Mission

The Sidney Lezak Project honors the life and legacy of Sidney Lezak through activities that promote social justice.

The Sidney Lezak Project is a non-profit, Oregon-based organization committed to facilitating social change. The Project examines leading national issues from a Pacific Northwest perspective and promotes public policies, public-private collaborations, and community education in the service of a just and equitable society. We offer a dynamic platform to inform, discuss, and resolve seemingly intractable local, regional, and national problems.

Core Values & Issues

In the last 30 years, we have seen a growing disparity between rich and poor outweighing most incremental progress. Healthcare, education, and housing are less affordable; the environment is in danger from global warming; and the increasing gulf between rich and poor has never been greater. Through fellowships, public presentations, conferences, and concrete policy action, we seek to answer the questions:

  • What are the systemic forces fueling the growing disparity that is foreclosing the American Dream for this and future generations?
  • What are the true impacts on our health, safety, environment, way of life, and values?
  • What public policies will eliminate systemic disparity and create a more just and equitable society?
  • How do we actively support effective constituencies for these policies?
